When the sun goes down every night, America becomes a very frightening place. There are communities all over the country where drug dealing, human trafficking and gang violence have gotten so out of control that authorities don’t really know what to do about it. In America tonight, thousands of meth heads will break into homes as they desperately search for enough money for another hit. In America tonight, thousands of children will be sold for sex at truck stops and on street corners. In America tonight, millions of criminal predators will be searching for a new victim. From the top levels of the federal government all the way down to the most depraved criminals on the street, America is rotting. Once upon a time our tremendous affluence masked the moral decay that was happening in this nation, but now that the economy is falling apart the damage to the fabric of our society is being revealed. We have become a nation of addicts, junkies, thrill seekers and predators. When we finally see the U.S. economy fully collapse, millions of desperate, angry and depraved monsters will take out their sick frustrations on all the rest of us.

Sadly, there are indications that meth use is on the rise once again. According to the DEA, meth seizures increased from 2,839 in 2007 to 6,168 in 2010.

Perhaps even more alarming is the rise of human trafficking in America.
When I was going through school, I was taught that slavery had been abolished in the United States.
But that was a lie.
The following stats about human trafficking come from a recent Detroit Free Press article….
• Human trafficking is a $32-billion industry worldwide.
• Up to 2 million people are trafficked worldwide every year. Of those, 15,000-18,000 are in the U.S.
• Eight in 10 human trafficking cases involve the sex industry; the others involve labor trafficking.
• In 2010, 2,515 human trafficking cases were under investigation in the U.S.
• Eighty-three percent of victims in confirmed sex trafficking cases in the U.S. in 2010 were American citizens

For now, I want to focus on another rising problem in our society. As I wrote about the other day, the FBI says that there are now 1.4 million gang members living inside the United States. That number has risen by an astounding 40 percent since 2009.
Nearly every major U.S. city has areas that are essentially “owned” by gangs. Some of these gangs are the size of small armies. For example, it is estimated that the Latin Kings have 18,000 members in the city of Chicago alone.
When civil unrest erupts in America, these organized groups of criminal predators will have a field day. Even now, law enforcement authorities in many areas of the country are having an incredibly difficult time trying to contain them.

We don’t do ourselves any favors by pretending that America is going to somehow turn around and become the safe, friendly place that it used to be.
There are millions of criminal predators in this country today that have little or no conscience. They don’t care about you, your spouse or your children. All they care about is feeding their addictions.
In the months and years to come, the economy is going to get worse. As it does, all of those predators are going to become even more desperate.
Desperate people do desperate things.

America is going to become a very frightening place. But instead of curling up into a ball and crying about it, the better response is to be strong and courageous and to get prepared the best that you can.

President Barack Obama has designated January as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. A first-of-its-kind initiative, the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Blue Campaign, launched in 2010, coordinates and enhances DHS’ anti-human trafficking efforts. This month, the Department debuted the Human Trafficking General Awareness Training, a 15-minute online training on human trafficking, the indicators of potential trafficking, and how to report it.

With the start of each year, we commemorate the anniversaries of the Emancipation Proclamation, which became effective on January 1, 1863, and the 13th Amendment to abolish slavery, which was signed by President Abraham Lincoln and submitted to the States for ratification on February 1, 1865.

These documents stand as testaments to the gains we have made in pursuit of freedom and justice for all, and they remind us of the work that remains to be done. This month, I urge all Americans to educate themselves about all forms of modern slavery and the signs and consequences of human trafficking. Together, and in cooperation with our partners around the world, we can work to end this terrible injustice and protect the rights to life and liberty entrusted to us by our forebears and owed to our children.

Both Women Worked as Exotic Dancers

"We have women missing, lots of women missing," said Brenda Hill with It Takes a Village Y'all.

Four of them have turned up dead. Their bodies were discovered in cars abandoned on Detroit's east side within a week of each other. Police say three of the four women have something else in common.

"The link that has been brought to our attention where three of the four females have a connection to the website deal specifically with prearranged adult dating services or escort services," Detroit Police Chief Ralph Godbee said on Monday.

The timing isn't the only coincidence. Both families are confident Kalisha and Cherice knew each other. At one time, they both danced at the same club on Detroit's east side and did private parties together. They also knew a lot of the same people.

Back in October, as the Wayne County severance scandal began to heat up, county commissioners wanted to know if there were any other deals in the works like Mullin’s $200,000 severance.

"Are there any other employees, appointees who have a severance package arrangement," asked commission vice-chair Alisha Bell.

Assistant Wayne County CEO Alan Helmkamp assured commissioners there were not.

"I'm not aware of, and I do not believe, that there are any other separations, severances, end of employment compensation, however you want to characterize it," he said.

Except that wasn’t true: the county had a plan to pay out even more. 7 Action News has learned that another 15 Wayne County appointees were in line for payments as high as about $80,000 just for leaving the county. Helmkamp said he didn’t tell commissioners because he didn't know about them until after October 4th.

The payments were offered to all appointees as part of a buyout program earlier this year. The county says the goal was to save money in the long-run by encouraging employees to leave back in the Spring with up to six-months salary. About 40 county employees took the original deal.

Detroit — Forty ex-Wayne County employees retired with annual pensions of more than $100,000, according to a report released today by a national taxpayer's right group.

Among the top annual pensions to retirees: Michele Harris, $159,477; Ronald Yee, director of retirement system, $152,856; Daniel Kerber, deputy director of airport, $136,050; Sawait Kanluen, a doctor with the medical examiner's office, $130,181; William Wolfson, corporation counsel, $125,020; James Lacey, $124,010 and Veda Sharp, director of Detroit-Wayne County Community Mental Health Agency, $123,090

"We have found the amounts are very high," said Christina Tobin, vice president of Taxpayers United of America, which used the Freedom of Information Act to collect the pension data.

‘Occupy’ protesters and housing rights activists are planning to help families resist eviction from foreclosed homes and take control of vacant properties in some 25 U.S. cities on Tuesday, an effort aimed at focusing attention on the ongoing housing crisis and giving the movement a new focus after the dismantling of many of its encampments.

The protesters have been crafting proposals – often quietly to prevent police from learning about their intentions beforehand -- to defend families facing eviction or return others home. In Minneapolis, for example, they plan to help a Vietnam War veteran stay in his home, in New York, protesters will try to help a family get back into their house, and in Chicago, two sisters and their seven children will be moved into an abandoned single-family home, activists said.

"It’s part of a national day of action that we hope will kick off a wave of defenses and home re-occupations,” Max Berger, 26, told the Occupy Wall Street General Assembly late Thursday while requesting $6,400 in funding to buy tools for the project. "This is not just about one event; this is a huge frontier for us. We can do these kinds of actions all the time, and we should. And it doesn’t have to be just us. We got to do this one right so we can inspire people to do it theirselves.”

DEA launders Mexican profits of drug cartels... Some of same concerns from Fast and Furious gun program arise in these operations

WASHINGTON — Undercover American narcotics agents have laundered or smuggled millions of dollars in drug proceeds as part of Washington’s expanding role in Mexico’s fight against drug cartels, according to current and former federal law enforcement officials.

They said agents had deposited the drug proceeds in accounts designated by traffickers, or in shell accounts set up by agents.

The officials said that while the D.E.A. conducted such operations in other countries, it began doing so in Mexico only in the past few years. The high-risk activities raise delicate questions about the agency’s effectiveness in bringing down drug kingpins, underscore diplomatic concerns about Mexican sovereignty, and blur the line between surveillance and facilitating crime. As it launders drug money, the agency often allows cartels to continue their operations over months or even years before making seizures or arrests.

20 Arrested in Alleged Mob-Linked Sex-Trafficking Ring in New York

All the defendants -- alleged members of both the Gambino and Bonanno crime families -- are expected to appear before U.S. Magistrate Judge Gabriel W. Gorenstein in Manhattan federal court Wednesday afternoon.

The ring would provide women to owners and operators of strip clubs in Queens and Long Island and would charge the clubs "protection" money, authorities said.

"The defendants procured and sent these women false job offers for waitressing and other positions they would then include on their visa applications. However, once the women arrived in the U.S., they worked as exotic dancers at the strip clubs, in violation of visa rules prohibiting employment in the adult entertainment industry," prosecutors said.

Drugs now kill more people than motor vehicle accidents in the U.S. -- a monumental shift that reflects gains in road safety amid a troubling rise in prescription drug abuse.

This is first time that drugs have caused more deaths than motor vehicle accidents since the government started tracking drug-related deaths in 1979. Bob Anderson, chief of the CDC's mortality statistic branch, said the swing is bittersweet.

"On one hand the motor vehicle death rate has been going down, and I think that's important in and of itself," said Anderson, crediting the bulk of the drop to speed limits and seatbelt laws. "On other hand, we've seen a fairly steep rise in drug-related deaths, and the rise is mostly due to drug overdose."

Drug overdoses and brain damage linked to long-term drug abuse killed an estimated 37,485 people in 2009, the latest year for which preliminary data are available, surpassing the toll of traffic accidents by 1,201. And the number is likely to rise as the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention prepares to release its official statistics in December.

Dr. Leonard Paulozzi, medical epidemiologist at the CDC's division of unintentional injury prevention, said prescription drugs were driving up the death toll.

"There has been a dramatic increase in use of prescription drugs as physicians have become more liberal in prescribing them," said Paulozzi, adding that the bulk of drug-related deaths stems from accidental opioid painkiller overdoses. "And with the decrease in the motor vehicle crash mortality rate, drug-induced deaths have now passed motor vehicle crash deaths."

Former Rep. Linda Smith, founder of Shared Hope International, appeared on Thursday's "The 700 Club" to talk about this and on what her organization is doing to combat this issue. Click play to watch the interview.

To the untrained eye, trafficking is hard to spot. While many believe it's confined mainly to urban areas, CBN News recently discovered that Toledo, Ohio, is one of the top city for trafficking.

An FBI anti-trafficking task force now operates there, as well as in 38 other communities around the country.

Problems within the system abound, however, making justice difficult to obtain.

Also, most state laws aren't nearly as comprehensive or severe as federal laws, often leaving authorities with nowhere to take victims.

"Most of the girls have no self-esteem by the time we get them. They have been beaten," FBI Victim Specialist Jennifer Meyers said.

Across the country, Christian grassroots groups have begun to set up shelters for victims - a beginning step in an enormous battle to fight this modern atrocity.

Column: Can't wait for Occupy Detroit

I can't wait for the menagerie of malcontents who call themselves Occupy Wall Street to arrive in Detroit and other mainstream American cities.

It will be good for real Americans to get a look at the folks President Barack Obama says represent their frustration with the condition of the country.

The protest movement that started in New York's financial district several weeks ago with a couple hundred enthusiastic and unfocused shouters has grown to a few thousand, and now is vowing to take its show on the road.

They're expected in Detroit near month's end.

Occupy Wall Street's main objective, from what I can make out from the inchoate signage, is the destruction of capitalism (a goal to which Obama can relate), although on a whim they can switch to global warming, medical marijuana or any number of other pet causes dear to the disaffected Left.

Clearly, they're angry with America, resent its founding values and would like to see the fat cats who run the place boiled in oil.

Or at least that's what they're Twittering.

Obama, asked about the budding movement last week, said he "sympathized" with Occupy Wall Street — not surprising, since they share a donor base.

And he opined that they are speaking for the great body of Americans who resent that some people have nice stuff and others don't, and are counting on him to play Robin Hood.

It's odd that such a small and predictable group could grab the president's attention.

He didn't seem to hear anything of value when tens of thousands of tea partiers were pouring into the streets to protest exploding deficits and Washington's fiscal recklessness.

He certainly didn't sympathize with those Americans. Nor did he accept that they represented the country's broader discontent.

And while the president and his media horde heard every whisper from a tea party rally that sounded like a threat or suggested racist undertones, they seem blissfully ignorant of the vicious and hateful side of Occupy Wall Street.

This is far from a peaceful protest. Cops in New York are arresting the increasingly violent activists by the hundreds.

Videos have caught incidents of Jewish passers-by being taunted by the protesters — of course, it's a quick step from attacking financial institutions to indulging anti-Semitism.

State lawmakers in New York have received emails reportedly connected to Occupy Wall Street containing this cheery call to action: "It's time to kill the wealthy."

I haven't taken a poll, but my hunch is more Americans relate to "cut the spending" than to "kill the wealthy."

That's why I'm eager to see this freak show arrive in Detroit.

It'll be informative for voters to compare the American protesters Barack Obama sympathizes with to those he despises.

Drugs exceeded motor vehicle accidents as a cause of death in 2009, killing at least 37,485 people nationwide, according to preliminary data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

While most major causes of preventable death are declining, drugs are an exception. The death toll has doubled in the last decade, now claiming a life every 14 minutes. By contrast, traffic accidents have been dropping for decades because of huge investments in auto safety.

Public health experts have used the comparison to draw attention to the nation's growing prescription drug problem, which they characterize as an epidemic. This is the first time that drugs have accounted for more fatalities than traffic accidents since the government started tracking drug-induced deaths in 1979.

Fueling the surge in deaths are prescription pain and anxiety drugs that are potent, highly addictive and especially dangerous when combined with one another or with other drugs or alcohol. Among the most commonly abused are OxyContin, Vicodin, Xanax and Soma. One relative newcomer to the scene is Fentanyl, a painkiller that comes in the form of patches and lollipops and is 100 times more powerful than morphine.

Such drugs now cause more deaths than heroin and cocaine combined.

TAMPA, Fla. -- Following an extensive remodel, the Penthouse Club in Tampa, Fla., is finally ready for next summer's Republican National Convention. Club operator DeWayne Levesque has installed two secluded VIP sections, which he hopes will help his club attract a bigger share of the 50,000 visitors expected to descend upon the city on Aug. 27 for four days of conservative politics and liberal partying. In addition to the club's new carpets and furniture, the private rooms are designed to provide cover so that camera-shy donors, politicians and aides can enjoy the strippers without fear of getting caught, he said.

A few blocks from the Penthouse Club, another strip club owner, Joe Redner, said he has high hopes for what the convention means for business at his all-nude club, Mons Venus. "I'm guessing we'll make five times as much in a night as we usually do," Redner told HuffPost. "Republicans got plenty of money. They take it all from poor people," he said.

Redner said he thinks many convention visitors will be in the market for a lap dance, but newly-released academic research suggests that some will be interested in the darker elements of Tampa's adult scene, too -- sex for sale. HuffPost teamed up with Tampa-based reporter Shawn Alff, of the Creating Loafing media group, to examine the potential impact of the RNC on two major pillars of the city's X-rated economy: prostitution and strip clubs.

(Bloggers Notes) This has been repeated, time and time again, in many articles, reports and including most studies; however, we need to enforce our laws and prosecute both prescription and illegal drug pusher/dealers without exception...

One problem I know of and understand is that drug overdose deaths not reported properly with respect to the Uniform Crime Report (UCR) Standards and are misleading when they do not include; moreover and as a negative result, exclude drug overdose deaths. Drug dealers under current federal and some state laws are charged with a homicide or murder 2 in the second degree, with the possibility of up to a life sentence upon conviction.

The UCR Stats are used a guide to help direct our efforts and resources on where, when, why and how to address public safety, health and welfare issues or concerns.

However, that said, if the stats themselves constitute a statistical fallacy, then we are not addressing or even aware of a bigger problem or those issues and thereby allowing the criminal activities, illegal enterprises and continuing drug wars/deaths to continue.

Drug, Human and Gun Trafficking operations are indeed, all three tied together. When you find one, the other two is/are surely hidden somewhere in the shadows too!

Girl held as sex slave tells of beatings at suspect's court hearing

Detroit — A soft-voiced girl testified Thursday in the city's 36th District Court she was a 14-year-old runaway last summer when she spent a month selling her body on a Detroit street corner under the constant threat of beatings and death.

"We had to come home with at least $200. If I didn't, he would beat me," the girl testified at a preliminary examination for the man accused of making her and another teenage girl his sexual slaves.

Sedrick Leman-Isaac Mitchell, 32, also known as "Gruesome," is the first person charged under Michigan's new human trafficking law, a felony that carries a penalty of up to life in prison. He was apprehended last month in Mojave, Calif., according to Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette.

Mitchell is charged with multiple crimes, including first-degree criminal sexual assault, racketeering, prostitution, felonious assault and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, for allegedly holding the then-14-year-old and a then-15-year-old girl captive for two months in a house on Detroit's east side.

One victim, whom Judge Deborah Geraldine Bledsoe-Ford asked the media not to name, testified Thursday about meeting Mitchell three days after running away from home July 4, 2010. She said she was taken to a drug house where she smoked marijuana and had sex with Mitchell.

A few days later, the girl testified Mitchell told her and another girl he "wanted us to make him some money … I understood he wanted us to sell our bodies."

Mitchell is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting both girls, once choking the then-15-year-old when she resisted his sexual advances, according to investigators. The other alleged victim testified Thursday that Mitchell held a gun to her head and told her he would kill her if she failed to do everything he asked.

"He would get mad," the girl testified. "He always wanted me to know I was his (whore) and he could control me, not nobody else."

She described standing on the corner of Fenkel and Livernois every day through August of last summer, from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., having sex for money with as many as six men a night. She said Mitchell also had sex with her, as often as three times a day. She said she turned over all the money she earned, and Mitchell bought her fast food and revealing clothing.

"He told me to leave with no guys unless they was a customer or he would come back and beat me or kill me," the girl testified.

The alleged victim said a third girl under Mitchell's control was tied up and scalded with hot water in the basement of a Detroit home near the Eastland Center mall for insulting one of Mitchell's friends.

Assistant Attorney General Kelly Carter told the judge authorities don't know the whereabouts of this other girl.

The alleged victim who testified Thursday said she eventually got the courage to tell Mitchell she didn't want to be a prostitute, and she said he offered her a choice of continuing or taking a beating before he would allow her to leave.

"I took the beating," she said, but after a few days alone on the street, she said she called Mitchell and asked him to take her back. She said she "wasn't ready yet" to go home.

Mitchell's arrest followed investigations by Michigan State Police and the FBI through the Southeast Michigan Crimes Against Children Task Force.

A Michigan law banning human trafficking was strengthened in 2010 and went into effect in April. The changes included adding trafficking to the list of offenses included under the state's racketeering law.

It authorizes additional compensation for trafficking victims and stronger penalties against offenders.

The hearing ended Thursday without conclusion. It will resume Sept. 8 with testimony from the other alleged victim.

14 Propaganda Techniques Fox "News" Uses to Brainwash Americans (Pimping Ticks 101)

Repeating Indeed FYI: The good news is that the more conscious you are of these techniques, the less likely they are to work on you.

The good news is that the more conscious you are of these techniques, the less likely they are to work on you. The bad news is that those reading this article are probably the least in need in of it.

1. Panic Mongering. This goes one step beyond simple fear mongering. With panic mongering, there is never a break from the fear. The idea is to terrify and terrorize the audience during every waking moment. From Muslims to swine flu to recession to homosexuals to immigrants to the rapture itself, the belief over at Fox seems to be that if your fight-or-flight reflexes aren't activated, you aren't alive. This of course raises the question: why terrorize your own audience? Because it is the fastest way to bypasses the rational brain. In other words, when people are afraid, they don't think rationally. And when they can't think rationally, they'll believe anything.

2. Character Assassination/Ad Hominem. Fox does not like to waste time debating the idea. Instead, they prefer a quicker route to dispensing with their opponents: go after the person's credibility, motives, intelligence, character, or, if necessary, sanity. No category of character assassination is off the table and no offense is beneath them. Fox and like-minded media figures also use ad hominem attacks not just against individuals, but entire categories of people in an effort to discredit the ideas of every person who is seen to fall into that category, e.g. "liberals," "hippies," "progressives" etc. This form of argument - if it can be called that - leaves no room for genuine debate over ideas, so by definition, it is undemocratic. Not to mention just plain crass.

3. Projection/Flipping. This one is frustrating for the viewer who is trying to actually follow the argument. It involves taking whatever underhanded tactic you're using and then accusing your opponent of doing it to you first. We see this frequently in the immigration discussion, where anti-racists are accused of racism, or in the climate change debate, where those who argue for human causes of the phenomenon are accused of not having science or facts on their side. It's often called upon when the media host finds themselves on the ropes in the debate.

4. Rewriting History. This is another way of saying that propagandists make the facts fit their worldview. The Downing Street Memos on the Iraq war were a classic example of this on a massive scale, but it happens daily and over smaller issues as well. A recent case in point is Palin's mangling of the Paul Revere ride, which Fox reporters have bent over backward to validate. Why lie about the historical facts, even when they can be demonstrated to be false? Well, because dogmatic minds actually find it easier to reject reality than to update their viewpoints. They will literally rewrite history if it serves their interests. And they'll often speak with such authority that the casual viewer will be tempted to question what they knew as fact.

5. Scapegoating/Othering. This works best when people feel insecure or scared. It's technically a form of both fear mongering and diversion, but it is so pervasive that it deserves its own category. The simple idea is that if you can find a group to blame for social or economic problems, you can then go on to a) justify violence/dehumanization of them, and b) subvert responsibility for any harm that may befall them as a result.

6. Conflating Violence With Power and Opposition to Violence With Weakness. This is more of what I'd call a "meta-frame" (a deeply held belief) than a media technique, but it is manifested in the ways news is reported constantly. For example, terms like "show of strength" are often used to describe acts of repression, such as those by the Iranian regime against the protesters in the summer of 2009. There are several concerning consequences of this form of conflation. First, it has the potential to make people feel falsely emboldened by shows of force - it can turn wars into sporting events. Secondly, especially in the context of American politics, displays of violence - whether manifested in war or debates about the Second Amendment - are seen as noble and (in an especially surreal irony) moral. Violence become synonymous with power, patriotism and piety.

7. Bullying. This is a favorite technique of several Fox commentators. That it continues to be employed demonstrates that it seems to have some efficacy. Bullying and yelling works best on people who come to the conversation with a lack of confidence, either in themselves or their grasp of the subject being discussed. The bully exploits this lack of confidence by berating the guest into submission or compliance. Often, less self-possessed people will feel shame and anxiety when being berated and the quickest way to end the immediate discomfort is to cede authority to the bully. The bully is then able to interpret that as a "win."

8. Confusion. As with the preceding technique, this one works best on an audience that is less confident and self-possessed. The idea is to deliberately confuse the argument, but insist that the logic is airtight and imply that anyone who disagrees is either too dumb or too fanatical to follow along. Less independent minds will interpret the confusion technique as a form of sophisticated thinking, thereby giving the user's claims veracity in the viewer's mind.

9. Populism. This is especially popular in election years. The speakers identifies themselves as one of "the people" and the target of their ire as an enemy of the people. The opponent is always "elitist" or a "bureaucrat" or a "government insider" or some other category that is not the people. The idea is to make the opponent harder to relate to and harder to empathize with. It often goes hand in hand with scapegoating. A common logical fallacy with populism bias when used by the right is that accused "elitists" are almost always liberals - a category of political actors who, by definition, advocate for non-elite groups.

10. Invoking the Christian God. This is similar to othering and populism. With morality politics, the idea is to declare yourself and your allies as patriots, Christians and "real Americans" (those are inseparable categories in this line of thinking) and anyone who challenges them as not. Basically, God loves Fox and Republicans and America. And hates taxes and anyone who doesn't love those other three things. Because the speaker has been benedicted by God to speak on behalf of all Americans, any challenge is perceived as immoral. It's a cheap and easy technique used by all totalitarian entities from states to cults.

11. Saturation. There are three components to effective saturation: being repetitive, being ubiquitous and being consistent. The message must be repeated cover and over, it must be everywhere and it must be shared across commentators: e.g. "Saddam has WMD." Veracity and hard data have no relationship to the efficacy of saturation. There is a psychological effect of being exposed to the same message over and over, regardless of whether it's true or if it even makes sense, e.g., "Barack Obama wasn't born in the United States." If something is said enough times, by enough people, many will come to accept it as truth. Another example is Fox's own slogan of "Fair and Balanced."

12. Disparaging Education. There is an emerging and disturbing lack of reverence for education and intellectualism in many mainstream media discourses. In fact, in some circles (e.g. Fox), higher education is often disparaged as elitist. Having a university credential is perceived by these folks as not a sign of credibility, but of a lack of it. In fact, among some commentators, evidence of intellectual prowess is treated snidely and as anti-American. The disdain for education and other evidence of being trained in critical thinking are direct threats to a hive-mind mentality, which is why they are so viscerally demeaned.

13. Guilt by Association. This is a favorite of Glenn Beck and Andrew Breitbart, both of whom have used it to decimate the careers and lives of many good people. Here's how it works: if your cousin's college roommate's uncle's ex-wife attended a dinner party back in 1984 with Gorbachev's niece's ex-boyfriend's sister, then you, by extension are a communist set on destroying America. Period.

14. Diversion. This is where, when on the ropes, the media commentator suddenly takes the debate in a weird but predictable direction to avoid accountability. This is the point in the discussion where most Fox anchors start comparing the opponent to Saul Alinsky or invoking ACORN or Media Matters, in a desperate attempt to win through guilt by association. Or they'll talk about wanting to focus on "moving forward," as though by analyzing the current state of things or God forbid, how we got to this state of things, you have no regard for the future. Any attempt to bring the discussion back to the issue at hand will likely be called deflection, an ironic use of the technique of projection/flipping.

In debating some of these tactics with colleagues and friends, I have also noticed that the Fox viewership seems to be marked by a sort of collective personality disorder whereby the viewer feels almost as though they've been let into a secret society. Something about their affiliation with the network makes them feel privileged and this affinity is likely what drives the viewers to defend the network so vehemently. They seem to identify with it at a core level, because it tells them they are special and privy to something the rest of us don't have. It's akin to the loyalty one feels by being let into a private club or a gang. That effect is also likely to make the propaganda more powerful, because it goes mostly unquestioned.

In considering these tactics and their possible effects on American public discourse, it is important to note that historically, those who've genuinely accessed truth have never berated those who did not. You don't get honored by history when you beat up your opponent: look at Martin Luther King Jr., Robert Kennedy, Abraham Lincoln. These men did not find the need to engage in othering, ad homeinum attacks, guilt by association or bullying. This is because when a person has accessed a truth, they are not threatened by the opposing views of others. This reality reveals the righteous indignation of people like Glenn Beck, Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity as a symptom of untruth. These individuals are hostile and angry precisely because they don't feel confident in their own veracity. And in general, the more someone is losing their temper in a debate and the more intolerant they are of listening to others, the more you can be certain they do not know what they're talking about.

One final observation. Fox audiences, birthers and Tea Partiers often defend their arguments by pointing to the fact that a lot of people share the same perceptions. This is a reasonable point to the extent that Murdoch's News Corporation reaches a far larger audience than any other single media outlet. But, the fact that a lot of people believe something is not necessarily a sign that it's true; it's just a sign that it's been effectively marketed.

As honest, fair and truly intellectual debate degrades before the eyes of the global media audience, the quality of American democracy degrades along with it.

RaSands, PI Repeating Luis CdeBaca: My office in the State Department works with numerous faith-based organizations distributing millions of dollars for programs that bring survivors support and resources, that train those in criminal justice and law enforcement to identify victims of trafficking and get them the help they need, rather than treating them as criminals.

In about a month, the State Department will release the 2011 Trafficking in Persons Report, which will rank more than 180 countries on their efforts to combat modern slavery. In addition to that, it will ask the question, “What are the next steps?” and it will point to the places and the people in the world that are already setting an example for the rest of the global community.

The idea is that we have to move forward in earnest on all that was accomplished during the decade of development, and usher in a decade of delivery. The framework of the 3Ps is in place. The promise has been made. And now that we’re at this crossroads, we need to continue to act to see that promise fulfilled. The best way to deliver on that promise is for what we’ve termed the fourth P—partnership—to guide the way.

So why is this day different? Because across our identities—various faiths, governments, NGOs, and businesses, we come together to rededicate ourselves to this cause, in the name of all who have suffered in servitude. We can, and we must, win this fight.

The current controversy involves whether the city’s Police Department should investigate others who might have been involved in the crimes, and whether the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office asked the department not to.... The Judge stated, on April 27, that, “Further, there is a rational basis for the City of Lincoln Park to enforce its ordinance against Bada Bing! employees and independent contractors and not against employees and independent contractors at the Hustler Club,” Jackson wrote in his decision that was just recently released.

If you own a Club that does not have a liquor license, then all your employees including independent contractors are required to get a background check, register, verify ID and obtain a license, according to Judge Thomas Jackson. NO Liquor License means that yes, a SOB Employee/IC background check, license and ID (Is required).

However, If you own a Club that has a liquor license, your employees including independent contractors do not need or is required to have any background check, licensing, registration or ID verification, according to Judge Thomas Jackson. Having the Liquor License means that no, a SOB Employee/IC background check, license or ID (Is not required). Let me repeat that again!

1. NO Liquor License means that yes, a SOB Employee/IC background check, license and ID (Is required).

2. Having the Liquor License means that no, a SOB Employee/IC background check, license or ID (Is not required).

No matter how many times I have read this, wrote it or repeated it to myself and/or others, we still cannot make any sense out of this ruling without thinking about the consequences or its negative impact as a legal precedent.
